Cannot access MyFRITZ! home page of FRITZ!Box
This document deals with the following issue:
- After logging onto the MyFRITZ! Internet platform (https://www.myfritz.net) the MyFRITZ! home page of the FRITZ!Box is not shown.
One of the following error messages might be displayed by your web browser after approx. 10 seconds:
- "The server [...]myfritz.net took too long to respond"
- "This webpage is not available"
- "404 not found"
- "requested resource was not found"
- "Not Found
The requested URL /myfritz was not found on this server"
Cause:
- The FRITZ!Box is either not connected to the Internet, did not obtain an IP address from the public range from your Internet Service Provider, or it is not correctly configured.
Simply proceed as described below. After each measure, check to see if the problem persists.
Note:Our documents generally refer to the latest version of the FRITZ!Box firmware.
1 Checking whether FRITZ!Box obtained an IP address from public range
The MyFRITZ! home page of your FRITZ!Box can only be accessed from the Internet if your Internet Service Provider assigns the FRITZ!Box an IP address from a public address range when it establishes an Internet connection:
- Check the address range of IP address assigned by Internet Service Provider.
- If the FRITZ!Box was assigned an IP address from the public address range:
- Proceed with the following section.
- If the FRITZ!Box was assigned an IP address from a private address range:
- You cannot access the FRITZ!Box from the Internet.
- If the FRITZ!Box was assigned an IP address from the public address range:
2 Maintaining permanent Internet connection
The following steps are only necessary if you wish to allow the FRITZ!Box to remain accessible via the MyFRITZ! Internet platform at all times:
ATTENTION!
Do not configure this setting if you have time-based Internet access! Internet rates based on connection time are not suitable if you wish the FRITZ!Box to remain accessible from the Internet at all times.
- Open the user interface of the FRITZ!Box.
- Click "Internet" and then "Account Information".
- Click on "Change connection settings".
- Select the option "Maintain permanently (recommended for flat rates)".
- Save your settings with "Apply".
3 Enabling Internet access to FRITZ!Box via HTTPS
- Open the user interface of the FRITZ!Box.
- Click "Internet" and then "MyFRITZ!".
- In the "FRITZ!Box Internet Access" section, enable the option "Internet access to the FRITZ!Box via HTTPS enabled".
- Save your settings with "Apply".
4 Disabling automatic port forwarding
Disable automatic port forwarding via UPnP (Universal Plug and Play) so that other network devices in the FRITZ!Box home network cannot use port forwarding for TCP Port 443 required for accessing the MyFRITZ! home page for themselves:
Important:
Some network devices (e.g. Western Digital My Book Live NAS System) use UPnP to automatically configure port forwarding for remote access for their own user inferfaces. If necessary you can configure static port forwarding in the FRITZ!Box for these devices.
- Open the user interface of the FRITZ!Box.
- Click "System" and then "Expert Mode".
- Select "Advanced View" and click "Apply".
- "Home Network" > "Network"
- Select the "Programs" tab.
- Disable the option "Allow changes to security settings over UPnP".
Note:If the option "Transmit status information over UPnP (recommended)" is not enabled, the option "Allow changes to security settings over UPnP" is not displayed and cannot be selected ("grayed out").
- Save your settings with "Apply".
