Internet Access via Existing Connection over Wi-Fi
Internet / Account Information / Internet Connection
If the device that provides the internet connection for your network (an internet router, for instance) supports Wi-Fi, then you connect the FRITZ!Box with the device over Wi-Fi.
Operating Mode
In this operating mode, the following properties apply to the FRITZ!Box:
- The FRITZ!Box receives an IP address from the upstream wireless router.
- The FRITZ!Box works as a router.
- The FRITZ!Box provides a network with its own network address range.
- When the settings are applied the network address range of the FRITZ!Box changes automatically.
Requirements
The following prerequisites must be fulfilled by the Wi-Fi network with which you wish to connect the FRITZ!Box:
- The Wi-Fi network must transmit in the 2.4-GHz frequency band.
- The Wi-Fi network must use WPA encryption.
- The Wi-Fi network must allow FRITZ!Box to establish a Wi-Fi connection. If the Wi-Fi network is provided by another FRITZ!Box, the option "Allow all new wireless devices" has to be enabled on the "Wi-Fi / Wi-Fi Network" page.
Connecting with the Router's Wi-Fi Network
- In the list of wireless devices, select the Wi-Fi network the FRITZ!Box is to connect with by checking the checkbox.
- Enter the network key of the selected Wi-Fi network in the "Security" area.
- Click on "Apply".
