Accessing Storage on the FRITZ!Box (NAS) over the Internet with FTP

You can use an FTP program (for instance, Cyberduck, FileZilla, WinSCP) to access the FRITZ!Box storage (NAS) from the internet. You can also set up multiple users with access to NAS contents. Individual users can receive access to all contents or only to certain directories. For example, you can allow friends to access your vacation pictures via FTP.

Requirements

The FRITZ!Box must be accessible from the internet under a fixed domain name, even if the public IP address changes. For this, one of the following prerequisites must be met:

  • A MyFRITZ! account is set up in the FRITZ!Box, and MyFRITZ! internet access is enabled (under "Internet / MyFRITZ! Account").
  • Or a DynDNS service is configured in the FRITZ!Box (under "Internet / Permit Access").

Instructions: Configuring FRITZ!Box Users

  1. In the user interface, select "System / FRITZ!Box Users".
  2. Click on "Add User" or, for a user already configured, click on the button.
