Characters for Passwords, Network Keys and Names

When defining passwords, network keys, and Wi-Fi network names, usernames and devices names, not all characters are allowed. Follow the rules and guidelines below.

Note:When they are defined, passwords are depicted in clear text. Once they have been saved, every time they are entered they will be displayed encoded.

Tips for Strong Passwords

  • The password (security code) should contain at least 8 characters.
  • For a strong password, use a combination of the following characters:
    • Capital letters
    • Lower-case letters
    • Numerals
    • Special characters and punctuation

Rules for Passwords and Network Keys

  • Passwords must be between 6 and 32 characters in length.
  • Network keys must be between 8 and 63 characters in length.

  • Wi-Fi network names may not begin or end with spaces.
  • Wi-Fi network names may have a maximum of 32 characters.
  • The password field may not be left blank.
