Access Rules
On this page you control when and for how long Internet use is to be permitted for a computer or user. You can configure a time limit for surfing the web, use filter lists to block certain web pages, and block network applications.
Access rules enabled
Enable this setting to switch on the parental controls function for the computer or the user.
Time Limit
- In the "Time Period" timetable, mark for each day of the week the period of time during which Internet access is to be permitted.
- In the "Hours Maximum" column, specify how long the Internet can be used on the individual days of the week.
The periods selected for Internet use are marked in blue.
How to mark the times:
- Place the mouse cursor at the beginning time.
- Press and hold down the mouse button while pulling the mouse cursor to the desired end of the period permitted.
- If the subsequent days are to receive the same marking, simply pull the mouse cursor further down.
NoteOn weekdays that contain no blue markings on the timetable, the Internet cannot be used. It is not enough to enter a duration in the "Hours Maximum" column—you must select the period on the timetable as well. If there are days on which Internet use is allowed around the clock, then for these days the entire line must be selected.
- You can select multiple periods for each day. Example: From 9 to 11 in the morning and from 4 to 6 in the afternoon. The amount of time online is to be limited to three hours. These three hours can be used at any time during the permitted periods.
- The days of the week are divided up into 15-minute intervals.
- To remove the markings, proceed just as you did to select them.
Filters for Web Pages
The web filters are lists in which web sites have been entered. These are divided into blacklists and whitelists. A blacklist contains web pages that are to be blocked. Web pages that are not on the blacklist are allowed. A whitelist contains web pages that are allowed. Web pages that are not on the whitelist are blocked.
Filter web sites
Enable this setting if you would like to use filter lists.
Allow HTTPS queries
Select this setting to allow HTTPS queries to the Internet. By default HTTPS queries to the Internet are no longer possible when filter lists (whitelist, blacklist) are applied.
Permit web sites (whitelist)
Select this setting if you would like to permit the user to visit only the web pages on the whitelist. You can write your own whitelist on the page accessed by clicking "Internet / Filters / Lists".
Block web sites (blacklist)
Select this setting if you would like to block web page access using a blacklist. You can write your own blacklist on the page accessed by clicking "Internet / Filters / Lists". Queries to the Internet over IP addresses are no longer allowed either.
Block web sites with adult content (German BPjM module)
If you have selected the blacklist, you can also block the web pages deemed harmful to young people (in the BPjM module). This index is compiled by the German federal government's review board.
Blocked Network Applications
Here you have the possibility to deny Internet access to network applications. Select from the drop-down list the network applications to be blocked.
You can edit the list of network applications by clicking "Internet / Filters / Lists".
