Properties and IP Settings

Property / SettingDescription
Name

Name under which the network device is registered with the FRITZ!Box.

You can change the name and assign an individual name for the device. Devices that have their own user interface can be reached in the home network under this name.

The name cannot be changed for devices registered with the guest access.

IPv4 address

IPv4 address of the network device in the home network. The IPv4 address is displayed when the network device is connected to FRITZ!Box via a an IPv4 connection.

You can change the IPv4 address. When you change it, the "Always assign this network device the same IPv4 address" option is enabled, if it was not enabled already. This way you can assign fixed IPv4 addresses.

Always assign this network device the same IPv4 address

If the checkbox is enabled, the network device will always be assigned the IPv4 address entered in the "IPv4 address" field. The IPv4 address must be from the IPv4 address range of the FRITZ!Box and the network device must be configured to receive the IPv4 address automatically.

Permit independent port sharing for this device

When this option is enabled, the device can to configure its own port sharing settings. The prerequisite for this is that the device supports PCP or UPnP, or that applications with PCP or UPnP support are installed on the device.

Device information

MAC address of the device and the manufacturer.

FRITZ!OS

If the device is a FRITZ! product, the FRITZ!OS installed on the device is displayed.

Connection to home network

The diagram shows how the device is connected with the FRITZ!Box: directly or via a repeater or powerline device.

IPv6 addresses

If IPv6 is enabled in the FRITZ!Box and the network device, the IPv6 addresses assigned to the device are displayed.

Wireless LAN Properties (frequency band)

The wireless LAN properties are shown for devices connected to the FRITZ!Box directly via wireless LAN. For devices is connected with the FRITZ!Box via a wireless repeater, the wireless LAN properties of the device will not be displayed.

Displayed here are the wireless LAN properties that apply to the frequency band of the wireless connection.

PropertyDescription
Signal Strength Signal strength of the wreless LAN connection
Max. data rate possible Maximum possible speed of data transmission in Mbit/s for upstream (sent data, first value) and downstream (received data, second value)
Current throughput Current speed of data transmission in Mbit/s for upstream (sent data, first value) and downstream (received data, second value)
Wireless standard Wireless standard used for the connection
Frequency band Frequency band in which the wireless connection is established
Channel Bandwidth Channel bandwidth used for the wireless connection

Wi-Fi Properties

The Wi-Fi properties are shown for devices connected to the FRITZ!Box directly via Wi-Fi. For devices is connected with the FRITZ!Box via a wireless repeater, the Wi-Fi properties of the device will not be displayed.

Displayed here are the Wi-Fi properties that are independent of the frequency band of the Wi-Fi connection.

PropertyDescription
Encryption Encryption technique used for the Wi-Fi connection
Streams Number of data streams in the send and receive directions
Signal properties Signal properties of the Wi-Fi connection
Quality of Service (QoS) Indicates whether WMM (Wi-Fi Multimedia) is enabled for the device connected via Wi-Fi.
Repeater operation Indicates whether the network device connected via Wi-Fi is working as a repeater.

Inclusion in the Mesh

If the network device is a FRITZ! product, this display will indicate whether or not it is part of the Mesh.

If the FRITZ! product is part of the Mesh, the "Remove from Mesh" button will be displayed. Using this button you can remove the FRITZ! product from the Mesh.

Note the following when you remove a FRITZ! product from the Mesh:

Wake on LAN if at least one of the following prerequisites is fulfilled:

  • A port forwarding/sharing was set up for the computer ("Internet / Permit Access" menu, "Port Forwarding" or "Port Sharing" tab).
  • The name of the computer was changed in the FRITZ!Box (the "Name" field on this page).
  • A static DHCP assignment was set up for the computer (see "Always assign this network device the same IP address" above).

Start this computer automatically as soon as it is accessed from the internet

When this checkbox is enabled, the computer starts automatically as soon as someone accesses it from the internet.

If you would like to access a computer over the internet from a remote location, enable this setting.
