Blocking Calls

Telephony / Call Handling / Call Blocks / New Call Block

In the FRITZ!Box you can set up call blocks for outgoing and incoming calls. Call blocks for incoming calls block unwanted calls. Call blocks for outgoing calls prevent the dialing of certain telephone numbers.

The following call blocks can be set up for incoming calls:

The FRITZ!Box does not accept any calls from the specified range of numbers (for instance, 030 for calls from Berlin).

Individual telephone numbers from blocked ranges can be excepted from the block.

calls without a telephone number (anonymous calls) The FRITZ!Box will not accept any calls from callers who suppress their telephone number.
telephone book The FRITZ!Box does not accept any calls from telephone numbers registered in the selected telephone book.

Instructions: Blocking a Telephone Number

  1. Select "Telephony / Call Handling / Call Blocks".
  2. Click on "Prohibited Numbers".
  3. Click on "New Entry".
  4. Enter a name. This name appears in the call list of the FRITZ!Box.
  5. Enter a telephone number.

    The type of telephone number selected (private, mobile, business, fax) has no influence on the call block.

  6. Enter further telephone numbers as needed, for instance, all numbers saved for a certain contact.
  7. Click on "OK".

Instructions: Blocking a Range of Telephone Numbers

  1. Select "Telephony / Call Handling / Call Blocks".
  2. Click on "New Rule".
  3. Select "incoming calls" as the type of call, and then "Number range" under "Select Telephone Number/Range".
  4. Specify the number range to be blocked. Do this by entering one or more numerals (for instance, 030 for the local network in Berlin).
  5. Enter a name. This name appears in the call list of the FRITZ!Box.
  6. Click on "OK".

Instructions: Blocking Anonymous Calls

  1. Select "Telephony / Call Handling / Call Blocks".
  2. Click on "New Rule".
  3. Select "incoming calls" as the type of call, and then the "Without a number" number range.
  4. Click on "OK".

Instructions: Blocking a Telephone Book

  1. Select "Telephony / Call Handling / Call Blocks".
  2. Click on "New Rule".
  3. Select "incoming calls" as the type of call.
  4. Select "Telephone book" as the number range.
  5. Select the telephone book with the telephone numbers to be blocked.
  6. Click on "OK".

You can set up the following call blocks for outgoing calls:

Telephone numbers within the specified range of numbers (for instance, 030 for the Berlin area code) can no longer be called from the FRITZ!Box.

Preconfigured range of telephone numbers Telephone numbers within the selected range of numbers can no longer be called from the FRITZ!Box.

Prescribed Ranges of Telephone Numbers

The prescribed number ranges include the following telephone numbers:

  • Range for directory assistance
  • Emergency numbers will be blocked if you do not have a landline. In order to be able to reach emergency numbers, create dialing rules for all emergency numbers.
Long-distance calls
  • Telephone numbers starting with 0
  • Mobile network, international numbers, intercontinental numbers, premium number ranges
International
  • All telephone numbers starting with 00
  • Intercontinental number range
Intercontinental Telephone numbers starting with intercontinental prefixes (e.g. 001, 002, 005, 006, 007, 008, 009)
Premium numbers Telephone numbers starting with premium prefixes (e.g. 0900, 0190, 0180, 0137, 0138)
Directory assistance Telephone numbers starting with a prefix for directory assistance (e.g. 118)

Instructions: Blocking a Telephone Number

  1. Select "Telephony / Call Handling / Call Blocks".
  2. Click on "New Rule".
  3. Select "outgoing calls" as the type of call, and then "Telephone number" in the "Number range".
  4. Enter a complete telephone number.
  5. Enter a name. This name appears in the call list of the FRITZ!Box.
  6. Click on "OK".

Instructions: Blocking a Range of Telephone Numbers

  1. Select "Telephony / Call Handling / Call Blocks".
  2. Click on "New Rule".
  3. Select "outgoing calls" as the type of call.
  4. Select a prescribed range of telephone numbers or select the "Telephone number" number range and define a range of telephone numbers. Do this by entering one or more numerals (for instance, 030 for the local network in Berlin).
  5. Enter a name. This name appears in the call list of the FRITZ!Box.
  6. Click on "OK".

Releasing Individual Numbers from Blocked Ranges

You can except individual numbers that are located in a range of telephone numbers that is blocked for incoming calls.

Example

You blocked a range of telephone numbers that includes the telephone numbers of friends who should still be able to reach you.

Requirements

A telephone number can be excepted for incoming calls only if the following requirement is met:

  • The telephone number is saved in a telephone book entry. The telephone book entry is located in a local telephone book or in Google contacts that are set up as an online telephone book.

Instructions: Excepting a Telephone Number for Incoming Calls

  1. Select "Telephony / Telephone Book".
  2. Open the telephone book entry with the number to be excepted.
  3. Enable the "important person" checkbox.
  4. Click on "OK".
