Creating a VPN Configuration for Windows Using "Configure FRITZ!Box VPN Connection"

  1. Start the "Configure FRITZ!Box VPN Connection" program and click "New": .
  2. Select "Configure VPN connection for one user" and click on "Next".
  3. Select the FRITZ!Box you wish to connect to over VPN:
    • If the FRITZ!Box you want to connect to over VPN is displayed here, then select this FRITZ!Box.
    • If the FRITZ!Box you want to connect to over VPN is not displayed here, then select "Add New FRITZ!Box".
  4. Click on "Next".
  5. Select "Computer with FRITZ!VPN" and click on "Next".
  6. Enter the email address of the user who intends to use the VPN connection and click on "Next".
  7. In the "Accessibility of Your FRITZ!Box in the Internet" window, enter the domain name of the FRITZ!Box. This window appears only if you selected the option "Add New FRITZ!Box" in step 3. Enter either the MyFRITZ! domain name or the domain name of another dynamic DNS service.
  8. Click on "Next".
  9. Enter the IP network of the FRITZ!Box in the "IP Network of Your FRITZ!Box" window. This window appears only if you selected the option "Add New FRITZ!Box" in step 3.
    • If you did not change the IPv4 settings of the FRITZ!Box, then select "Apply factory settings of the FRITZ!Box for the IP network".
    • If you did change the IPv4 network of the FRITZ!Box, then select "Use a different IP network". Enter the network address of the IP network and the corresponding subnet mask. Enter the IP address of the Windows computer in the "IP address of the user in the network of the selected FRITZ!Box" field. The computer receives this address from the FRITZ!Box when the VPN connection is established.
  10. Enter the IP address of the Windows computer in the "Enter the IP Address of the User" window. This window appears only if you selected a FRITZ!Box that was already listed in step 3. The computer receives this address from the FRITZ!Box when the VPN connection is established.
  11. Enable the "Send all data over the VPN tunnel" setting if the Windows computer's entire data traffic is to be routed over the VPN tunnel. In this case, even internet queries from the Windows computer are sent via the VPN tunnel and then forwarded to the internet by the FRITZ!Box.
  12. Click on "Next".
  13. Click on "Finish".

The VPN configuration is created.

A Windows folder opens automatically. The folder contains the file "fritzbox_[...].cfg" and a subfolder with the file "vpnuser_[...].cfg".

You can open this Windows folder at any time:

  1. Start the "Configure FRITZ!Box VPN Connection" program.
  2. Under "Existing Configurations", select the VPN configuration you want to open.
  3. Click on "Explorer": .
