Restoring Settings and Telephony Data
System / Backup / Restore
On the "Restore" page you can restore all FRITZ!Box settings you have previously saved. In addition to the FRITZ!Box settings, you can also restore saved telephony data here.
All saved FRITZ!Box settings and telephony data can be restored to the same FRITZ!Box, a different FRITZ!Box of the same model, or another model of the FRITZ!Box.
Saved telephony data can be restored only together with saved settings.
Restoring FRITZ!Box Settings
If you apply settings from a backup file, the current settings of the FRITZ!Box will be overwritten! If you apply the telephone book, for instance, all telephone books already stored in the FRITZ!Box will be deleted. Exception: port sharing settings are not overwritten. If you apply port sharing settings, they will be added to the port sharing already configured.
Prerequisite
- You created a backup file with this FRITZ!Box or with a different FRITZ!Box.
- The backup file is located on your computer or on a connected storage medium.
- For restoring settings in another FRITZ!Box model: If you want to restore your telephony data as well as the FRITZ!Box settings, you must first restore the factory settings to the new FRITZ!Box.
Instructions: Restoring FRITZ!Box Settings
Proceed as follows to restore your saved settings to this FRITZ!Box, a FRITZ!Box of the same model or a different model of the FRITZ!Box:
- Enable the setting "Backup file".
- Depending on the browser, click on "Browse" or "Open File" and select the backup file generated beforehand.
- Enter the password you assigned when creating the backup file.
- Select one of the following options:
- "Restore all of the settings"
If you load a backup file from this FRITZ!Box or a FRITZ!Box of the same model, you can restore all settings.
- "Select manually the settings to be restored"
If you load a backup file from a different FRITZ!Box model, you receive an overview of all of the settings you can apply to this FRITZ!Box.
- "Restore all of the settings"
- Click on the "Restore" button.
- Perform the additional confirmation.
Reading of the backup file is started.
- When "Restore all of the settings" is selected, the FRITZ!Box is restarted once the settings have been applied.
- When the "Select manually the settings to be restored" option is selected, the next window will display an overview of all settings that can be applied to this FRITZ!Box. Settings that do not match your FRITZ!Box or which are already configured in your FRITZ!Box will not be offered for application.
- Select the settings to be applied.
- Click on "Apply".
The settings are restored and FRITZ!Box is restarted.
When the "Overview" page is displayed, restoration of your FRITZ!Box settings is complete.
Follow-Up
- When the FRITZ!Box settings are restored, the MyFRITZ! web address changes. The new MyFRITZ! web address is shown in the "MyFRITZ! Internet Access" section of the "Internet / MyFRITZ! Account" menu.
- Existing Wi-Fi connections to DECT devices are not secured. After the FRITZ!Box settings have been restored, DECT devices must be reregistered with the FRITZ!Box.
Restoring Telephony Data
Telephony data that have been previously saved in the "System / Backup / Save" menu can be restored – along with saved FRITZ!Box settings – in the same FRITZ!Box or in a different FRITZ!Box model.
Restoring the data loads them to the internal memory of the FRITZ!Box. This overwrites any telephony data already saved there. Telephony data located on a connected USB storage medium are automatically available as soon as this USB storage medium is connected to the corresponding FRITZ!Box.
Important:Saved telephony data can be restored only together with saved settings.
Requirements
- In the FRITZ!Box where you want to restore the telephony data, you previously also restored the saved settings of the FRITZ!Box from which you saved the telephony data.
Instructions: Restoring Telephony Data
- Select "System / Backup / Restore" in the user interface.
- Enable the "Telephony data" option.
- Click on "Browse" to select the ".assets.zip" backup file from which you want to restore telephony data.
- The telephony data are loaded to the internal memory of the FRITZ!Box and the FRITZ!Box is restarted. After the restart and your password entry you will be automatically routed to the FRITZ!Box "Overview" page.
The telephony data have now been restored.
