Increased transparency, safety, and convenience

New in FRITZ!OS

The new FRITZ!OS, version number 6.20, brings you significantly more security, transparency and convenience.

New security overview for better monitoring and transparency

Central to the update is the new security overview in the FRITZ!Box user interface: This provides for better monitoring and transparency in your home network. In the "Diagnostics / Security" menu you can see at a glance whether the latest FRITZ!OS is installed and which ports are being used for connections to the Internet and in the home network. All wireless devices and telephones are listed along with their properties in detail. This overview also includes security-relevant information on registering with the FRITZ!Box, on the users, and on FRITZ!NAS. If desired, you can view detailed Help on the most important elements.

More security for your passwords

Are you not always sure about the number and kind of characters to select for a new password? In future the FRITZ!Box assists you in assigning secure passwords, for instance when creating new users or configuring MyFRITZ!. A diagram indicates how secure the chosen password is.

Secure encryption with TLS 1.2

e-mail addresses configured in the FRITZ!Box now correspond with the latest TLS 1.2 encryption standard. When accessing your FRITZ!Box from the Internet, too, you now benefit from a secure https connection.

Notification about new updates

The technical characteristics of your DSL connection and the security demands placed on it are subject to constant change. For this reason you should always keep your FRITZ!Box up to date. By doing so you can also regularly add new features to the FRITZ!Box. With the new "Auto-update" function FRITZ!OS 6.20 offers you various options for notification when a new update is available. Depending on the selected setting, the start page of the user interface will indicate whether an update is currently available. If desired, you can also be notified by push mail or the Info LED.
