Home Network / USB/Storage / Devices and Network Sharing

You can connect a USB storage medium to the FRITZ!Box and configure online storage (cloud storage) in FRITZ!Box. Both kinds of storage can be configured as central storage in the home network (network drive, NAS).

If you access the storage regularly, you can map it as a network drive on your computers in the home network. You can also use an FTP program (for instance, Cyberduck, FileZilla, WinSCP) to access the FRITZ!Box storage (NAS) from the internet.

Configuring Online Storage in the FRITZ!Box

You can configure online storage (cloud storage) in FRITZ!Box. You can then use the online storage like a local drive on any computers in the home network, so that it can be accessed with Windows Explorer or macOS Finder.

Instructions: Configuring Online Storage

See Configuring Online Storage in the FRITZ!Box.

Configuring USB Storage as a Network Drive over SMB

Via SMB you can map a connected USB storage medium as a drive on every computer in the home network. The USB storage medium then receives a drive letter and can be used on the computer just like a local drive or a USB flash drive connected directly to the computer, for instance in the Windows Explorer or macOS Finder.

Instructions: Mapping USB Storage as a Network Drive

See Configuring USB Storage on the Computer as a Network Drive over SMB.

Accessing Storage on the FRITZ!Box (NAS) over the Internet with FTP

You can use an FTP program (for instance, Cyberduck, FileZilla, WinSCP) to access the FRITZ!Box storage (NAS) from the internet. You can also configure access to NAS contents via FTP for other people, for instance, to let your friends see your vacation album.
