Provider Services
Internet / Account Information / Provider Services
The "Provider Services" tab is displayed in the FRITZ!Box user interface only if at least one of the following criteria is met:
- The selected Internet provider supports TR-069.
- The FRITZ!Box learned the URL of an ACS (Auto Configuration Server) via DHCP.
With the settings on this tab you can allow or prevent the automatic configuration of your FRITZ!Box and automatic firmware updates.
Note on TR-069: TR-069 is a technical specification that describes the automatic configuration of Internet access devices like the FRITZ!Box by an Internet or Internet telephony providers (service provider). Not every Internet service provider or Internet telephony provider supports TR-069.
Click on the "Apply" button to save your settings. If you leave the page without saving, all of your changes will be discarded.
Allow automatic configuration by the service provider
We recommend enabling this option.
With this setting the Internet connection is configured automatically by the Internet service provider. If you also ordered Internet telephony from your Internet service provider, then all of the settings required for this will also be configured automatically. You do not need to enter any account data or telephone numbers manually.
Permit automatic updates
You can enable this setting as well, whenever the "Allow automatic configuration by the service provider" setting is enabled.
With this setting you allow the Internet service provider to transfer updates to your FRITZ!Box and install them.
Disable this setting if the FRITZ!Box's FRITZ!OS should not be updated automatically. For instance, updates should not be performed automatically if you want to operate the FRITZ!Box using a certain version of FRITZ!OS.
Observe the URL of the Auto Configuration Server over DHCP
The "Observe the URL of the Auto Configuration Server via DHCP" settings is enabled by default upon delivery. This setting is available only if the following two criteria are met:
- The FRITZ!Box is set up as a router.
- DHCP is used on the connection to access the Internet. This depends on the Internet service provider.
These two criteria are met, for instance, when the FRITZ!Box is connected to a cable modem as a router, and the cable provider uses DHCP on the connection to the FRITZ!Box.
