Configuring an Internet Telephone Number

Your internet telephone numbers must be configured in the FRITZ!Box so that you can make calls with and be reached at those numbers.

Connecting an ISDN PBX for DDI Lines

You can connect an ISDN PBX for DDI lines to the FRITZ!Box, for instance, for use in combination with SIP trunking or an SIP DDI system. Instructions are presented here: Connecting an ISDN PBX for DDI Lines.

Configuring Internet Telephone Numbers (SIP Telephone Number, VoIP Telephone Number)

Overview

For fast configuration of your internet telephone numbers you can select some of the most common telephony providers from a list. You can also configure internet telephone numbers from other providers. If you have multiple telephone numbers with the same account information, you can enter all telephone numbers at the same time.

Requirements

  • Your location information is entered under "Telephony / Telephone Numbers / Line Settings".

Instructions: Configuring an Internet Telephone Number

  1. Select "Telephony / Telephone Numbers" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click "New Telephone Number".
  3. Select "Internet telephone number".
  4. Select your telephone provider. If your provider is not included in the list, select "Other provider".
  5. Enter your telephone number. If you have other telephone numbers with the same account information, enter these telephone numbers as well.
  6. Enter the account information you received from your telephony provider.
  7. For some telephony providers, additional settings are displayed, which you can either enable or disable. Information on these settings is presented here: Editing a Telephone Number.
  8. Click "Next" and follow the wizard's instructions.

Instructions: Configuring SIP Trunking

  1. Select "Telephony / Telephone Numbers".
  2. Click "New Telephone Number".
  3. Select "Internet telephone number".
  4. Select your SIP trunking provider. If your provider is not included in the list, select "SIP trunking with various telephone numbers".
  5. Enter all of the telephone numbers from SIP trunking that you would like to assign to telephones on the FRITZ!Box. For additional entry fields, click "More telephone numbers".
  6. Enter the account information you received from the SIP trunking provider.
  7. For some providers, additional settings are displayed, which you can either enable or disable. Information on these settings is presented here: Editing a Telephone Number.
  8. Click "Next" and follow the wizard's instructions.

Configuring an SIP DDI Line

Overview

You can configure an SIP DDI line in the FRITZ!Box. An SIP DDI line is a connection with a larger number of telephone numbers for PBX systems.

Rules

  • The trunk number of the SIP DDI line and the extension of the switchboard must always be entered in the FRITZ!Box.
  • For telephones that are connected to an ISDN telephone system on the "FON S0" socket of the FRITZ!Box, you do not need to enter extension numbers (root number + extension) in the FRITZ!Box.
  • For other telephones that are connected to the FRITZ!Box, all extension numbers (root number + extension) you would like to assign to these telephones must be entered in the FRITZ!Box. You can enter a maximum of 20 extension numbers.

Instructions: Configuring an SIP DDI Line

  1. Select "Telephony / Telephone Numbers" in the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  2. Click "New Telephone Number".
  3. Select "Internet telephone number".
  4. Select the "SIP DDI line" entry as the "Telephony provider".
  5. Enter the trunk number of the connection.
  6. Enter the switchboard extension.
  7. For "length of the extension", select the length of the longest internal extension number.
  8. If it is necessary to enter extension numbers (see the rules above), enter the extension numbers.
  9. Enter the account information you received from the provider of the SIP DDI line.
  10. For some providers, additional settings are displayed, which you can either enable or disable. Information on these settings is presented here: Editing a Telephone Number.
  11. Click "Next" and follow the wizard's instructions.
