FRITZ!Box Users

FRITZ!Box users are individual authorizations to access and use the FRITZ!Box, which are linked with a individual user account. A FRITZ!Box user account is set up with a username and a password.

FRITZ!Box Password

Within the FRITZ!Box home network you can log in with the FRITZ!Box with a FRITZ!Box password without a username. For the first login with the FRITZ!Box, use the password preset for your FRITZ!Box, which you can find on the "FRITZ! Notes" service card and printed on the FRITZ!Box housing. With the FRITZ!Box password you can log in with the FRITZ!Box from within the FRITZ!Box home network even without a username. You can change the preconfigured FRITZ!Box password in the menu with the three dots in the header of the FRITZ!Box user interface.

User with the FRITZ!Box Password ("fritz1234")

For the FRITZ!Box password, the FRITZ!Box automatically creates a user with a username composed of the letters "fritz" and a four-digit string of numerals, for instance, "fritz1234". The FRITZ!Box uses this user account internally whenever you log in with the FRITZ!Box home network without a username.
If you change the automatically created username, then you can no longer log in using just the FRITZ!Box password without a username. Then login is possible only with a username and password.

The User "ftpuser"

The list of FRITZ!Box users may include "ftpuser". The "ftpuser" is a user account preconfigured in the FRITZ!Box, with read and write rights for all of the storage available on the FRITZ!Box. For security reasons, access from the internet cannot be permitted for the "ftpuser".

By default, the password for "ftpuser" is the same as the password for the FRITZ!Box user interface.

The "ftpuser" authentication can be used, for instance, of you would like to access FRITZ!NAS via Windows file sharing and have not created any other FRITZ!Box user for this purpose. If you do not want to use the "ftpuser", you can delete it.
