Network Settings
Home Network / Network / Network Settings
On the "Network Settings" page you can make changes to the network settings of your FRITZ!Box.
Inappropriate settings can have the result that the FRITZ!Box user interface is no longer accessible!
Click on the "Apply" button to save your settings. If you leave the page without saving, all of your changes will be discarded.
Guest Access
You can configure the "LAN 4" port as a guest access. Using the guest access you can allow your guests to access the internet via your FRITZ!Box.
- Guests have access only to the internet.
- Guests have no access to your home network or the user interface of the FRITZ!Box.
Prerequisites for Guest Access
The internet access of the FRITZ!Box must be configured so that the FRITZ!Box establishes the internet connection itself. If the FRITZ!Box is configured as an IP client, so that it uses the internet connection of another device, then no guest access can be configured.
The configuration of the internet connection can be viewed in the "Internet / Account Information" menu.
Restrictions on the Guest Access
For guest access at the "LAN 4" port the restrictions set for the "Guest" access profile apply. The "Guest" access profile also applies for the Wi-Fi guest access.
The "Guest" access profile can be viewed and edited in the "Internet / Filters / Access Profiles" menu. Since this access profile applies for all guest connections to the FRITZ!Box, any changes to the profile affect all guest access connections.
Important:
Restrictions can be configured when setting up the Wi-Fi guest access ("Wi-Fi / Guest Access" menu). The restrictions are adopted by the "Guest" access profile and thus also apply to the "LAN 4" guest access.
Enabling the LAN Guest Access
Check the "Guest access for LAN 4 enabled" checkbox if you would like to use the "LAN 4" port for guest connections.
Terms of Use for the Guest Access
You can make login with the guest access dependent on consent to the terms of use.
Enable the "Permit login with guest access only after consent to terms of use" checkbox if you want to allow login with the guest access only after consent to the terms of use.
When they login with the guest access, guests have to consent to the terms of use.
You determine the terms of use. You must also ensure that the guests can view the terms of use.
Preparing and Connecting the Network Device
- Configure the network device (generally the computer's network adapter) to automatically obtain IP settings.
- Use a network cable to connect the network device to the "LAN 4" port on the FRITZ!Box.
Multiple Network Devices at the LAN Guest Access
With a hub or switch you can connect several network devices with the FRITZ!Box's LAN guest access.
LAN Settings
Network devices on the LAN ports of the FRITZ!Box influence the power consumption of the FRITZ!Box.
For energy-efficient use of your FRITZ!Box, in the "LAN Settings" you can specify for each individual LAN port whether it should always operate with full power (power mode) or with reduced energy consumption (green mode). With green mode you can reduce the power consumption of the FRITZ!Box to the level necessary for your applications.
Click with the mouse to select the desired mode for each LAN port:
Mode | Properties |
---|---|
Power Mode | In this setting the FRITZ!Box establishes LAN connections with a maximum data rate of 1 gigabit/s, such that the LAN interface requires more power than in the "green mode". |
Green Mode | In this setting, LAN connections are established with a data rate of 100 megabits/s to keep the LAN interface's power consumption to a minimum. |
