Telephone Numbers

Telephony / Telephone Numbers

Configure your telephone numbers on the "Telephone Numbers" page.

You can configure conventional telephone numbers and Internet telephone numbers for making calls via an Internet connection (VoIP, IP telephony). You receive Internet telephone numbers, for instance, for an IP-based connection (also known as an IP connection or direct access).

Some telephony providers configure the Internet telephone numbers in the FRITZ!Box automatically (remote configuration).

Setting Up a New Telephone Number

  1. Click the "New Telephone Number" button.
  2. Select whether you would like to set up an internet telephone number or a landline telephone number.

If you are not offered this selection, the landline network was disabled in your FRITZ!Box. To configure a landline telephone number, enable the landline network under "Telephone Numbers / Line Settings". For this the Advanced view must be enabled in the user interface.

  3. Click "Next" and follow the wizard's instructions.

Status of the Telephone Number

The symbols in front of the telephone numbers have the following meanings:

For an Internet telephone number, check the telephone number settings. For a landline telephone number, check whether the FRITZ!Box is connected with the landline telephone jack.

Using Preselections

Your telephone numbers are assigned preselections that can be used to dial a call. When placing a call, dial the preselection before the number you wish to call. It does not matter how your IP telephone is configured in the FRITZ!Box.

Example: You would like to call the telephone number 030123, and conduct the call using the your (own) telephone number 456. The telephone number 456 is assigned to the preselection '121#. So dial *121#030123
