Setting Up a Podcast
You can listen to podcasts over the FRITZ!Box media server. To play the podcasts you can use a FRITZ!Fon cordless telephone or any device that supports UPnP, for instance, an Android smartphone.
Configuring a New Podcast
Several podcasts are preset in the FRITZ!Box. You can also set up other podcasts.
Instructions: Configuring a Preset Podcast
- Select "Home Network / Media Server" in the user interface.
- Switch to the "Podcast" tab.
- Select the desired podcast from the "New podcast" list.
- In the overview of configured podcasts, click on the "Edit" button next to the new podcast.
- Define the intervals at which the FRITZ!Box should check whether new podcasts are available. Enter the retrieval interval in hours and minutes.
- Enable the "Automatically signal new podcasts on the FRITZ!Fon" option if the messages button on the FRITZ!Fon should flash whenever new podcasts are available.
- If you have multiple FRITZ!Fon telephones, select the telephones on which the podcast is to be made available.
- Click on "OK".
Instructions: Configuring Another Podcast
- Select "Home Network / Media Server" in the user interface.
- Switch to the "Podcast" tab.
- Select "Other Podcast" from the "New podcast" list.
- Enter a name and the web address of the podcast.
Note:The web addresses of many podcasts can be found at www.podcastdirectory.com. Various addresses for individual podcasts are listed there. Use the RSS addresses for the FRITZ!Box. You can copy these to the clipboard as follows: Left-click on the "Subscribe" button on a podcast page. Move the mouse cursor to "RSS", press the right mouse button and select "Copy link address" (or a similar command).
- Define the intervals at which the FRITZ!Box should check whether new podcasts are available. Enter the retrieval interval in hours and minutes.
- If you have multiple FRITZ!Fon telephones, select the telephones on which the podcast is to be made available.
- Click on "OK".
