Wireless / Radio Network

On the "Radio Network" page you can enable and disable the wireless network, and specify the name of the wireless network (SSID). You also receive information on other wireless devices known to the FRITZ!Repeater.

Known Wireless Devices

The list contains all wireless devices that are currently connected with the FRITZ!Repeater or were connected to the FRITZ!Repeater at an earlier point in time. The list also contains wireless devices that previously attempted to connect with the FRITZ!Repeater.

Information and Buttons in the List

The list presents the following information:

ColumnMeaning / Function
Quality of the Wi-Fi connection (signal strength). After a Wi-Fi connection is cleared, this symbol may continue to display an existing connection for a certain period.
IP Address

The IP address assigned to the wireless device. If the device is displayed here has a fixed IP address, the IP address will not be displayed.

MAC address The MAC address of the wireless device. Every network device has a MAC address (Media Access Control address) with which it can be identified unambiguously in the network.
Throughput The value displayed is the speed that is physically possible and is determined on the physical level.
Properties
  • Status of the Wi-Fi connection (connected / not connected)
  • Wireless encryption method
  • Functions supported by the wireless device, for instance Wi-Fi Multimedia (WMM), expanded energy-saving mode U-APSD (Power Save), STBC
Button Deletes the wireless device from your FRITZ!Repeater network.

Rules

If the FRITZ!Repeater has an SSID different from your internet router, no roaming is possible. A wireless device that is moved in the home cannot switch automatically between the Wi-Fi networks of FRITZ!Powerline and the internet router.

Instructions: Changing the Name of the Wi-Fi Network (SSID)

  1. Enable the "Wi-Fi network enabled" checkbox.
  2. Enter a name for the Wi-Fi network. This name is displayed on wireless devices (for instance, computers, smartphones) and can have a maximum length of 32 characters.
  3. and then click "Apply".

If you disable the checkbox, wireless devices will no longer find the Wi-Fi network. In order to establish a Wi-Fi connection with the FRITZ!Repeater, you cannot then simply select the Wi-Fi network on the wireless device, but have to enter the SSID by hand.

QR code

Using the QR code you can a transfer the information for the Wi-Fi network to use the access to your smartphone or tablet without having to enter the network key.

Instructions: Using the QR Code

  1. Scan the QR code with your device's camera and a QR code app. On Android devices it is especially easy to use the QR code with FRITZ!App WLAN.
  2. Confirm the setup of the Wi-Fi connection.
