"MyFRITZ! Internet Access" Section

For access from the internet, the FRITZ!Box requires a web address accessible to the public. If you register your FRITZ!Box with MyFRITZ!, an address is assigned to the FRITZ!Box via MyFRITZ!.

Note:If this FRITZ!Box is operated in IP client mode behind another FRITZ!Box, then access from the internet is generally excluded for the FRITZ!Box in IP client mode.

Configuring MyFRITZ! Internet Access

When you configure MyFRITZ internet access for the first time, you must first enable the public web address for your FRITZ!Box.

  1. Click on the "Configuring MyFRITZ! Internet Access" button.

The web address for the FRITZ!Box is enabled and the "Internet access to the FRITZ!Box via HTTPS enabled" setting is enabled.

Internet access to the FRITZ!Box via HTTPS enabled

The "Internet access to the FRITZ!Box via HTTPS enabled" option enables access to your FRITZ!Box via a web browser. The FRITZ!Box users who are allowed to log in to the FRITZ!Box from the internet are displayed in a list:

  • All FRITZ!Box users with the right "Access from the internet permitted" can access the MyFRITZ! interface of the FRITZ!Box directly via the displayed address or via "myfritz.net".

  • All FRITZ!Box users who also have the right "FRITZ!Box settings" can access the FRITZ!Box user interface directly via the displayed address or via the MyFRITZ! interface.

  • The displayed FRITZ!Box users can only log in to this FRITZ!Box. Login to the "myfritz.net" portal requires a separate MyFRITZ! account. If the email address of the FRITZ!Box user account is identical to the email address of the MyFRITZ! account, this link will be designated with a MyFRITZ! symbol in the list of users.

In the following cases, the assigned address can not be reached from the internet:

  • Your FRITZ!Box is in IP client mode, meaning that it shares the existing internet connection of another router.
  • Your internet service provider did not assign a public IPv4 address to your FRITZ!Box. This is possible at internet connections that use the dual-stack lite protocol. Consult your internet service provider to find out how to enable IPv4 connections at your internet account or connect your FRITZ!Box using IPv6.

"Security Warnings in the Browser" Section

Your browser requires an official security certificate to open the public web address for your FRITZ!Box. If you want to access the user interface of your FRITZ!Box via the internet, we recommend using a trusted security certificate from letsencrypt.org. letsencrypt.org is a free official certification body whose certificate is recognized as secure by your browser.

  • Enable the "Use certificate from letsencrypt.org (recommended)" option to avoid receiving security warnings form your browser when you access the FRITZ!Box user interface.
  • If you disable the certificate from letsencrypt.org, the FRITZ!Box uses its own security certificate. Because the FRITZ!Box's own security certificate is not known to any official certification body, you receive a security warning from your browser. You can allow the security certificate of your FRITZ!Box in the browser and confirm the security query so that you will no longer receive security warnings from your browser.

Like most certification authorities, letsencrypt.org publishes a list of all of the certificates it issues, and thus also the MyFRITZ! addresses certified there.
