Telephone Numbers

Telephony / Telephone Numbers

Configure your telephone numbers on the "Telephone Numbers" page.

Overview

On the "Telephone Numbers" page you can add new telephone numbers, edit configured telephone numbers, and check the status of your telephone numbers (enabled / disabled). Here you can also find the preselections for your telephone numbers, with which you can specify the telephone number to be used for the next outgoing call.

Setting Up a New Telephone Number

On the "Telephone Numbers" page you can configure your internet telephone numbers and landline telephone numbers.

Internet telephone numbers are telephone numbers for making calls over the internet (VoIP, Voice over IP). All telephone numbers on All-IP connections, for instance, are internet telephone numbers. Every internet telephone number you would like to use to make and take calls must be configured in the FRITZ!Box.

Landline telephone numbers are the telephone numbers of conventional analog telephone lines and conventional ISDN connections. You only have to configure landline telephone numbers in the FRITZ!Box if you would like to assign those telephone numbers to telephones or other devices.

If the gray symbol is displayed next to an internet telephone number, check the settings for the telephone number:

  1. Click the "Edit" button.
  2. Check whether the account information is correct.
  3. Check the "Additional Settings". For more information, open the Help on "Edit Telephone Number".

Using Preselections

On the "Telephone Numbers" page there is a preselection for each number (for instance, *121#). The preselections are automatically assigned to the telephone numbers during configuration. Using the preselections you can specify the telephone number to be used for the next outgoing call.

Example 1

Your telephone is configured such that outgoing calls are automatically established using the telephone number 12345, but the next call should use the number 67890.

Example 2

You configured a dialing rule for international calls. The dialing rule specifies that calls to foreign countries are automatically established using the telephone number 12345, but for the next international call you would like to use 67890.

Requirements

  • With your telephone you can dial * and # and send keypad shortcuts (sequences of characters and numerals like *121#). On many telephones, you can configure this function in the menu "Operation at a PBX > Dialing options > Dial * and #".

Instructions: Using a Preselection

  1. Enter Preselection+telephone number on your telephone.

Example: You would like to call the number 030399760 using the telephone number 67890, to which the preselection *121# has been assigned. Then enter *121#030399760.

  2. Press the call key (lift the receiver).
