FRITZ!NAS

With FRITZ!NAS you can display the data on the storage media of your FRITZ!Box in a clearly arranged interface. All participants in the FRITZ!Box home network can start FRITZ!NAS in a web browser and use it as a platform to access music, images, videos and documents in the FRITZ!Box memory.

Starting FRITZ!NAS

Enter "fritz.nas" in the address line of your web browser to start FRITZ!NAS. Access to the storage media of the FRITZ!Box and thus to FRITZ!NAS can be restricted in the FRITZ!Box by defining a password under "Home Network / Storage (NAS) / Security".

Prerequisites for Operating FRITZ!NAS

  • FRITZ!NAS can be used only if the Java Runtime Environment is installed on your computer.
  • If the Java Runtime Environment is not yet installed on your computer, you can download the program from java.com by clicking one of the two links in the FRITZ!NAS interface.
  • After successful installation of the Java Runtime Environment, the areas "Transfer to FRITZ!NAS" and "Transfer to the Computer" are displayed in FRITZ!NAS.

Using FRITZ!NAS

In the FRITZ!NAS interface the contents of all of the storage media of the FRITZ!Box are displayed, including connected USB storage devices, internal memory and configured online storage.

FRITZ!NAS opens with the "Files" view, which shows all contents in a folder structure. The contents of your storage media can be sorted by file format by selecting the "Images", "Music", "Videos" and "Documents" views.

Selecting Folders and Files

Click in the checkboxes at the left edge of the screen to select a folder or a file.

Opening Folders and Files

Click the entry of a folder or a file to open it.

Transferring Folders or Files from a Computer to a Storage Medium of the FRITZ!Box

  1. Open a target folder on a storage medium of the FRITZ!Box.
  2. Drag the folder or the file to the "Transfer to FRITZ!NAS" area.

    The data are transferred to the target folder.

Transferring Folders or Files from a Storage Medium of the FRITZ!Box to the Computer

  1. Select a folder or a file in FRITZ!NAS and then click in the area "Transfer to the computer".
  2. Select a target folder on your computer.

    The data are transferred to the target folder.

Moving Folders and Files within a Storage Medium

  1. Select a folder or a file.
  2. Click "Cut".
  3. Open a target folder.
  4. Click "Paste".

    The data are inserted in the target folder.

Instructions for Using FRITZ!NAS

When using FRITZ!NAS, please note the following:

  • The user name for accessing the FRITZ!Box's password-protected memory is "ftpuser".
  • Use the "Remove Safely" option to remove a USB storage device from the FRITZ!Box. To do this, open the FRITZ!Box "Overview" page and click "remove" in the "Interfaces / USB" area. The USB storage device will be removed safely to avoid any loss of data.
