DECT enabled

Enable the "DECT enabled" setting if you want to use the FRITZ!Box as a DECT base station or as a DECT repeater.

DECT base station enabled

When this option is enabled you can register your cordless telephones on the FRITZ!Box and can make telephone calls via FRITZ!Box using the registered cordless telephones.

DECT repeater enabled

When this option is enabled you can use the FRITZ!Box as a DECT repeater. When used as a repeater, the FRITZ!Box increases the range of another FRITZ!Box's DECT radio network. The second FRITZ!Box is the DECT base station.

If the FRITZ!Box is configured as a DECT repeater for another FRITZ!Box, your cordless telephones will automatically connect with the FRITZ!Box that has the stronger signal. This allows you to make cordless calls without disruption, even in larger buildings or on different stories.

If you would like to use the FRITZ!Box as a DECT repeater, work through the following steps:

1. Select the "DECT repeater enabled" option.
2. Under "Registration", enter the PIN of the DECT base station.
3. Click "Apply".
4. The FRITZ!Box attempts to register at the DECT base station. The "Info" LED on the FRITZ!Box begins flashing.
5. Now press the "DECT" button on your base station. Hold down the "DECT" button until the "Info" LED of the base station starts flashing as well.
6. The FRITZ!Box is registered on the DECT base station as soon as both "Info" LEDs stop flashing.
7. Register all cordless telephones on the FRITZ!Box that is used as the DECT base station.

Once the "DECT repeater enabled" option has been enabled, you can no longer use any other DECT functions on this FRITZ!Box. The "E-mail", "Web Radio", "Podcast" and "RSS Feeds" menus are no longer available.

Registration

PIN

The "PIN" field contains the system PIN of the FRITZ!Box.

If the FRITZ!Box is configured as a DECT base station, the PIN is requested during the registration of a cordless telephone. Upon delivery the PIN set set to "0000", but you can enter any other 4-digit PIN to replace it.

If the FRITZ!Box is configured as a DECT repeater, enter here the same PIN as in the DECT base station.

Radio Field Strength

Reduce DECT field strength

If you enable the "Reduce DECT field strength" option, the FRITZ!Box will transmit with reduced DECT field strength.

However, this also reduces the range of the cordless DECT telephones registered on the FRITZ!Box. Enable this setting only if all cordless DECT telephones are to be used in close vicinity to the FRITZ!Box.

DECT Eco

If you enable the "DECT Eco" function, the FRITZ!Box switches off the DECT radio field as soon as all cordless DECT telephones are in standby mode.

The connection to the cordless DECT telephones is maintained, however. If a call arrives for a cordless DECT telephone, the call is signaled and can be picked up on the cordless DECT telephone.

You can enable the following settings:

• "DECT Eco always enabled": Switches on DECT Eco mode.
• "DECT Eco enabled only when night service is enabled ("System" menu)": Switches DECT Eco mode on only when night service is enabled.

The "DECT Eco" function can be used only if all registered cordless telephones support "DECT Eco". In addition to the AVM cordless telephones FRITZ!Fon MT-F, C3, M2 and MT-D, many other DECT cordless telephones support this function.

Security

Permit only secure connections (recommended)

When this option is enabled, FRITZ!Box only permits authenticated and encrypted DECT connections. This option is enabled upon delivery of the FRITZ!Box.

Permit non-encrypted connections

Enable this option if you would like to use a DECT repeater from another manufacturer that does not support encrypted connections.

Do not enable this option if you use a FRITZ!DECT Repeater or another FRITZ!Box as a DECT repeater. Connections with a FRITZ!DECT Repeater or another FRITZ!Box are encrypted.

Please note: You cannot use the following FRITZ!Box functions when the setting "Permit non-encrypted connections" is enabled: web radio, podcast, defining a new background image for FRITZ!Fon cordless telephones, adding photographs for the display of the telephone book on FRITZ!Fon cordless telephones.
