Guest Access
Wireless / Guest Access
You can set up a Wi-Fi guest access in the FRITZ!Repeater. For this the FRITZ!Repeater must be located in the home network of a FRITZ!Box.
Overview
Overview
With the Wi-Fi guest access it is simple to provide guests with an internet connection for their smartphones, tablets or laptops. By default, the FRITZ!Repeater adopts the settings for the wireless guest access from the FRITZ!Box. You can also set up a Wi-Fi guest access just for the FRITZ!Repeater.
The Wi-Fi guest access is completely separate from your home network: Your guests can use only the internet connection. They cannot access other devices and content in the home network (shared files, printer, user interfaces of FRITZ! devices).
Private Wi-Fi Guest Access or Public Wi-Fi Hotspot
The guest access can be configured as a private Wi-Fi guest access or as a public Wi-Fi hotspot. A private Wi-Fi guest access is secured with a network key. The data are encrypted for transmission.
A public hotspot is an open Wi-Fi network without a key, for businesses, cafés and other public places. The data are transmitted without encryption.
Overview of the guest accesses:
Security feature | private Wi-Fi guest access | public Wi-Fi hotspot |
---|---|---|
Wi-Fi Encryption | yes (WPA2 is preset) | no, data are transmitted without encryption |
Network key | yes, individualized | no, access without key |
